This exhibition combines films made by Rosalind Nashashibi and Lucy Skaer with their own curated selection of artworks that reflect and add new meaning to their work.
Part retrospective, part artist-curated exhibition, five of Nashashibi/Skaer’s films are screened alongside a selection of modern and contemporary work by artists including Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Paul Nash, Winifred Nicholson, Lee Miller and Rosella Biscotti. These artworks reflect Nashashibi/Skaer’s working methods and the themes their films explore.
The exhibition explores contemporary and ever-relevant themes including the position of women in art as subjects or authors; the passing of time and parallels between historic moments and the present; and colonial narratives in art and museums.
