Mexico Towans Beach
- Overview
- More Info
Mexico Towans is part of a stunning three-mile stretch of sandy coastline that begins at the mouth of the Hayle Estuary and extends all the way to Godrevy Lighthouse.
Positioned between Hayle and Gwithian, this wild and unspoilt beach is backed by impressive sand dunes, locally known as “towans.” The area is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its rich biodiversity. The dunes — Cornwall’s second largest dune system — span roughly 400 hectares and support around 300 plant species, thanks to the unique, lime-rich shell sands shaped by the wind.
