Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned pro come and enjoy friendly relaxed, quality art tuition, taught by our team of professional contemporary artists. A fun way of spending your time in St Ives, whether you try a half day workshop or 3 day course we have a huge selection to choose from. We have been running art classes from our studios overlooking Porthmeor beach since 1938.
Come and experience this inspirational space. All materials are provided so you don’t need anything. Twice a week you can try our life drawing sessions held in our off shoot studio at the other end of Porthmeor beach.

Overview
St Ives School of Painting, based at the historic Porthmeor Studios has been providing high quality art tuition since 1938.
Their huge range of courses, led by professional artists, are taught in small groups and aimed at a wide range of abilities, from complete beginners to experienced artists. You can choose your course based on medium, subject or tutor. Depending on the amount of time you have, you can join a half day or one day class throughout July, August and September or book a 3 or 4 day course at any time of the year to fully immerse yourself in the experience. There are also regular life drawing classes running every Thursday evening and Saturday morning.
For those not regularly in Cornwall, you can bring a bit St Ives magic into your home with their huge range of online art courses, available to watch on demand.

Opening times
Mon – Sat 9am – 5pm
Life Drawing
Thursday evenings 6.30pm – 8.30pm and Saturday mornings 10.30am – 1pm. Cost £30 or £15 for members.
With guidance and support from our experienced tutor, enjoy the mindful experience of drawing the human figure. These sessions are designed to be accessible to everyone and build confidence in drawing.
Beginners are very welcome, do let the tutor know so they can give you extra support
The sessions also give professional artists who simply want the opportunity to work from a model a regular space to develop their practice.
Steve Dove will run our regular Thursday evening sessions and a team of different tutors will bring their own style to our Saturday classes.
The model will be nude, we use both male and female models.
Please remember no under 16’s but 16-18 year olds welcome if accompanied.
